A fan’s guide to the honor

Understanding the Hall of Fame list

Why do some lists say nine and others say eleven?

This page features nine players who appeared in regular-season games for Tampa Bay. The Hall’s full Buccaneers affiliation list also includes Tony Dungy, enshrined as a coach, and Ron Wolf, enshrined as a contributor. Counting those two gives eleven associated Hall of Famers. [1]

Is the Buccaneers Ring of Honor the same as the Hall of Fame?

They are separate honors. The Pro Football Hall of Fame is the national institution in Canton, Ohio. Tampa Bay’s Ring of Honor recognizes people who shaped the franchise and includes honorees who have not been enshrined in Canton. Visit our Buccaneers Ring of Honor page for that team tribute. [1]

Does a player enter the Hall with only one team?

The Hall honors the individual’s entire career. A player’s years with multiple franchises remain part of his record, which is why Steve Young, Randall McDaniel, Tim Brown, and Darrelle Revis belong in Tampa Bay’s complete player list. [17]

Why is Anthony Muñoz outside the player count?

Muñoz briefly joined Tampa Bay in 1993 but retired again after a preseason injury. He never appeared in a regular-season game for the Buccaneers, the standard used for this page’s nine-player honor roll. The Buccaneers explain that distinction in their historical account. [17]

Does this list include nominees or future candidates?

It includes players already enshrined through the Class of 2026. Nomination, semifinalist or finalist status does not add a player to this list. The roster was checked against the Hall’s class records through 2026; none of the 2024–2026 classes added a Tampa Bay player. [2], [3]
