PCa Blue is pleased to announce that blues legend Buddy Guy will be heading up the Men Who Speak Up Buddy Guy’s Blues Tour for Prostate Cancer Education and Awareness beginning in September 2016. Buddy will be performing with local blues musicians in cities across the country at the same time presenting the important information men need to make informed decisions about this deadly disease.
It’s a well-known fact that men don’t talk about their personal medical conditions even to family and loved ones. It’s also a fact that prostate cancer is the second deadliest cancer in men after lung cancer, and that as many as 30,000 men will die from prostate cancer this year, many of them needlessly.
PCa Blue Founder and CEO John Lupton recently announced that Bayer has been named Founding Corporate Partner of PCa Blue. Bayer is a global enterprise with core competencies in the Life Science fields of health care and agriculture. Its products and services are designed to benefit people and improve their quality of life.
Bayer is committed to supporting patients living with advanced prostate cancer and their loved ones. In early 2015, Bayer and an advocacy coalition commissioned the International Prostate Cancer Symptoms Survey, which examined the perspectives of men with advancing prostate cancer and their caregivers on the disease and its symptoms. Survey results showed that nearly 7 in 10 men (68 percent) sometimes ignore the symptoms of prostate cancer, potentially risking their health and delaying further treatment for their advanced disease.
Bayer’s Men Who Speak Up movement brings the symptoms of advancing prostate cancer to life for the community, so that men know when to speak up and take action against their disease. The program raises the collective voices of prostate cancer – the doctors who treat it, the patients and caregivers who live it, and the advocacy groups who support them – and delivers informational tools and resources to those who need them most.
