Tampa Bay traveled to the west coast to take on the 8–2 Seahawks, and looked to break a long west coast losing trend.
A tough first half saw a 3–3 tie. In the third quarter, the season came to a turning point. Quarterback Trent Dilfer was sacked by Phillip Daniels and suffered a broken clavicle. Dilfer would sit out the remainder of the season, and rookie Shaun King took over as quarterback. King was only 3-for-7, but threw a touchdown pass in the fourth quarter to lead the Buccaneers to victory.
