The Buccaneer victory was sailed into overtime as a result of a Testaverde 74-yard drive into the final 1:19 that resulted in a Bruce Hill 11-yard touchdown reception for a tie and cannon fire into overtime.

The Vikings were posistioned for a victory in overtime, however a Paul Gruber partially blocked ex-Buccaneer kicker Donald Igwebuike's 48-yard fieldgoal. Wayne Haddix then intercepted a deflected Rich Gannon pass, and Steve Christie kicked the game winner fieldgoal with 5:49 left in overtime.
