The Buccaneers had the lead at half-time 13-07 in a game the both starting quarterbacks were out injured. Santana Dotson put Rich Gannon out with his fifth sack in three games, while Testaverde had his throwing hand go numb after a sack resulting in his sideline visit.
Steve DeBerg led the Buccaneers to within six with a late fourth quarter drive, but the Vikings were able to run all but 16 seconds off the play clock giving Sam Wyche his first loss as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach.
