Fifty seasons aboard. Every name belongs here.
For a while, the Bucs’ 50th season looked ready for a proper celebration. Three close wins opened the year, and Tampa Bay reached its bye at 6–2. Then came a difficult second half, a crowded injury list and a division race that lasted into the final weekend. Rookie Emeka Egbuka gave the Krewe plenty to cheer, but an 8–9 finish left the Bucs outside the playoffs. Here are the players who carried that season, through the bright spots and the rough afternoons.
Roster games, starts and season-leader statistics cover Tampa Bay’s 17 regular-season games. The Bucs did not qualify for the playoffs; the season-finish panel explains the final weekend and division tiebreaker.

A rookie worth watching: Emeka Egbuka arrived as the No. 19 pick and led Tampa Bay with 938 receiving yards and six touchdown catches. With Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Jalen McMillan each missing significant time, the rookie quickly became a familiar target in an offense that kept changing around him.
Finding room on the ground: Bucky Irving led the Bucs with 588 rushing yards despite playing only 10 games, while Rachaad White added 572. Injuries also disrupted the offensive line. Tampa Bay finished with 380 points, a sharp drop from the previous year’s 502.
Range to spare: Chase McLaughlin made 32 of 38 field-goal attempts, including 11 of 12 from at least 50 yards. His 65-yarder in Philadelphia’s Week 4 visit set a new Buccaneers record.
Season honors: Antoine Winfield Jr. and Tristan Wirfs were Tampa Bay’s original selections for the 2026 Pro Bowl Games, recognizing the 2025 season. Jamel Dean and Baker Mayfield remained alternates. No Buccaneer was named to either 2025 AP All-Pro team. Official statistics & recognition
The final weekend · 50th season
A final win, then a Sunday wait
8–9 finish · No playoff berthTampa Bay kept its division hopes alive by beating Carolina on Saturday evening. The Bucs then needed New Orleans to win or tie in Atlanta on Sunday. The Falcons’ victory created a three-way tie at 8–9, and Carolina’s record in games among the tied teams settled the NFC South title.
| Date | Week | Opponent | Venue | Result |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Week 18 | Carolina Panthers | Raymond James Stadium · Home | W 16–14 |
The second half changed the season: The Bucs reached their Week 9 bye at 6–2, then went 2–7 the rest of the way. That left the finale as a chance to stay in the race, with help still required elsewhere.
The tiebreaker went to Carolina: The Panthers went 3–1 in games against Tampa Bay and Atlanta; the Bucs went 2–2 and the Falcons 1–3. Tampa Bay placed second in the division. Its run of four straight NFC South titles and five straight playoff appearances came to an end.
The January 3 game belongs to the 2025 NFL regular season and is included in the roster’s GP and GS totals. Tampa Bay played no postseason games. Season-finish sources & archive notes

Participation details: Game-by-game participation is checked against official player records and playtime tables, with documented corrections applied where summaries disagree. Practice-squad elevations without a game appearance are not counted as games played; appearances for other teams are excluded. Additional players have no Tampa Bay regular-season game appearances.
Roster-history additions: Sua Opeta, Desmond Watson and Jaden Smith are included from documented practice-squad or injured-reserve histories even though they are absent from the season-review participation chart. These three zero-appearance entries make the archive broader than that chart alone.
Roster correction: Owen Wright is credited with three regular-season games. The season-review participation chart mistakenly counts an appearance at Detroit on October 20. The official player biography, final roster and offensive playtime table show that he was elevated for that game but did not play.
Season dates: The 17-game regular season ended on Saturday, January 3, 2026. The official schedule and game recap establish that date; the season-review statistical schedule incorrectly prints January 4. The Bucs were eliminated from the division race on January 4 and played no postseason games.
Historical scope: This was Tampa Bay’s 50th season. The club finished 8–9 and second in the NFC South after the division tiebreaker. Achievements are described as they stood at the end of the 2025 season.
Honors and statistics: Pro Bowl recognition belongs to the 2025 season; the event was the 2026 Pro Bowl Games. AP All-Pro recognition is a separate award. Final official statistics are used where corrected totals differ from earlier summaries.
